Tevva’s role as a manufacturer of advanced technologies for electric commercial vehicle goes way beyond the automotive, battery and software engineering teams based at our Chelmsford, UK tech hub.
Tevva’s growing profile amongst the key groups at the forefront of action on transport decarbonisation helps inform and drive policy changes for the accelerated availability and adoption of electric commercial vehicles.
To recognise and celebrate EarthDay 2020 we lay out five ways your company could take action and plan for lowering its transport carbon footprint.
1. Learn about Zero Emissions Logistics Roadmaps
ALICE – the alliance for logistics innovation and collaboration in Europe – consists of vehicle manufacturers like Tevva; logistics operators, policy makers, transport infrastructure providers, shippers and retails and academics across Europe aware of the huge challenges and deep transformation required of freight transport and logistics if we are to meet climate goals and maintain our standard of living.
Late last year, ALICE developed a roadmap entitled “Towards Zero Emissions Logistics 2050” to set the challenge and direction clearly. It aims to make the roadmap towards decarbonisation more practical for companies and to clarify what roles governments, research and development institutes and civil society will have in order to make this happen. Access the roadmap document here.
2. Develop your own Zero Emissions Roadmap
The SmartFreight Centre works with industry experts like Tevva, to offer short courses delivered by e-training. You will leave with concrete actions to achieve a 30% reduction in logistics emissions by 2030. The next course kicks off on September 10th 2020, and you can find out more here.
3. Implement the GLEC Framework and measure your GHG footprint
The GLEC framework from the Smart Freight Centre is the only globally recognized methodology for harmonized calculation and reporting of the logistics GHG footprint across the multi-modal supply chain, designed to inform business decisions towards reduced emissions. SmartFreight Centre Director Sophie Punte is a leading light in #zeroemission logistics and gives clear and honest, action orientated advice through her many talks on the subject. We are proud to work with her on sustainble city logisitics through our joint participation of the POLIS Urban Freight and Logistics Dialogue Group.
4. Declare how many clean freight commercial vehicles you need
Join Tevva and other companies, cities and countries getting transport decarbonisation higher on the climate agenda. The Transport Decarbonisation Alliance brings together the 3 c’s and was formed to accelerate the worldwide transformation of the transport sector towards net-zero.
By signing the call for clean freight, you effectively showcase the concrete need for the accelerated availability of zero emission or low carbon commercial vehicles by putting into numbers, your demand for clean vehicles. The TDA works directly with policymakers on transport across the globe.
5. Use tools available to inform future purchases on clean commercial vehicles
Find Tevva technology offerings, and compare to other offerings depending on the range, payload and duty cycle requirements – LoCity Vehicle Finder Tool – a key initiative from Transport for London.
Tevva is a pledge partner of CALSTART’s Global Commercial Vehicle Drive to Zero Programme and you can explore all available zero emission technologies, including Tevva’s on this global Zero Emission Technology Finder.
CALSTART are key partners of the TDA and work tirelessly to bring the entire clean transportation technology industry together to accelerate innovation.
Not withstanding the current challenges, we must still lead the charge and collaborate for real action on the longer term crisis which is climate change.
